Most of you who know us, think we just design-build new... but here is a little secret, we started out many years ago doing remodeling and renovations! We are just 2 weeks from hitting the market with an amazing home that we have been refreshing for a year... It was going to be our family home, but we have made the decision to move towards retirement and downsize.

'Casa Mayura' (house of the peacocks) is an elegant custom pool home estate, which was well designed and constructed in 1991. Stately, and with amazing curb appeal, while equally captivating on the inside. It features natural light and views into a private 1.29 acre old-Florida style oasis (think moss covered mature oaks). Because it is so unique, it was lovingly remodeled top to bottom in 2024-2025, without compromise. It has been brought up to today’s function and style, and is loaded with high-end features throughout. It represents the best of both worlds… in an exclusive and private neighborhood with an HOA that maintains the charm and aesthetic, but without being overbearing. Come and experience this luxury, once in-a-lifetime property in one of the most desirable neighborhoods on the island. Listing price: $1.495M

Go to the gallery for Casa Mayura to see many more photos, and reach out if you want more information. More photos of the pool area and property will be forthcoming, as well as links to listing when we go live

In June of 2023, we were approached by a couple who had seen pictures of our design-builds and were interested in the possibility of working with us to build their dream home on beautiful Lake Wateree, South Carolina. At the time, we were busy with a project (we only craft one home at a time!), and Wateree was just too far away for us to ask them to wait. So, we politely declined. But, upon further discussion, they indicated that they were most interested in a previous design of ours. We agreed to tailor that plan to their requirements, adjusting it to the size, layout and features that fit their lot, budget & lifestyle, and then worked with our friend Karen Rivers to codify it into a full set of building drawings. It took them a little time to get started, but we were pleased to receive a few photos from them recently of the progress on their home. We are so grateful that they though of us and are happy with their home design. We wish them the brightest future in their new home.

The large custom home on Lake Murray that we have been building took about 4 months longer than planned as many, many upgrades and features were added along the way (including rehabbing an approx. 1,400 sq. ft. existing structure into a spectacular man cave). That said, we passed final on the first try last week. Currently, the landscaping is underway (including amazing putting greens), and driveways start next week. There are still some punchlist items, but the place looks great!. See the photos under the gallery 'Our Latest Build'. Note that we are not including much for interior photos out of respect for the homeowner's privacy.

Our current build continues to progress well. We passed rough inspection on the first go, after all rough mechanicals and foam insulation were completed. The faux slate roof with standing seam metal accents is completed and looks amazing. Drywall is currently underway and stone is being applied on the exterior. Stay tuned as the interior begins to take shape....

Our latest home on Lake Murray is continuing along. Mechanicals are nearly complete, and cornince and board and batten siding is also done for now. Painters are hard at work on the exterior, which will than allow us to install stone siding and then the roof.

The new custom home on Lake Murray, SC is coming along quickly. Framing is progressing rapidly as can be seen in the photos. Exterior decisions have been made and are shown in the renderings.

22Dec

Well, 2023 is almost over. It has been a busy year, and an especially busy fall/winter thus far. We have been pushing hard on our latest build, in order to meet our goal of starting framing right after the new year. To accomplish that, we had to pour the slab before the holidays.

It really took a team effort between many of the finest subcontractors that the Midlands has to offer... but we did it. In fact, yesterday was 'pour day'. We placed 84 yards of concrete, starting at 6 AM, and working the finish until approximately 11PM (due to the very cool weather). What a dedicated crew! We are extremely pleased with the quality of the job and the slow drying conditions... the Client will have a very good base on which we can build their dream home.

We are going to take the next week and spend some well earned time with family and friends. Happy Holidays to you all, and we'll see you in the New Year!

- Blocks were filled with 30 cubic yards of concrete, with rebar inserted to tie into slab, and 1/2" galvanized anchor bolts every 4'

- 58 truckloads of sand clay were placed and compacted inside the homes stem walls

- 41 truckloads of fill were placed and rough graded around the exterior

- Temporary power was pulled underground and passed inspection today (12/8/23)

- 3rd party soil compaction testing to occur today (12/8/23)

One of the things we pride ourselves on is keeping a neat, safe and professional job-site. Part of that involves staying on trash removal, but also, it requires us to avoid burying scrap lumber or the tree roots and pieces that are unearthed during excavation. These scraps are food sources for the termites that thrive here in South Carolina. So, one of the activities we engage in while waiting on deliveries, subs, or even clients, is to walk around and pick-up trash, glass, wood and any hazards we encounter. It is indeed a little thing, but reflects a core value which is to treat your property as if it were our own.
